Last night the Remembrance Centre at the National Memorial Arboretum was awarded a RIBA West Midlands Award and was also named RIBA WM’s Building of the Year 2017.
Regional Jury Chair, Natalia Maximova, said : “Every member of the judging panel was visibly moved by the experience of the building. It is a great example of a skillful and meaningful architecture and is a worthy winner of a Building of the Year Award. ”
The National Memorial Arboretum is the UK’s year-round centre of remembrance. With over 30,000 maturing trees and over 330 memorials, it is a beautiful and lasting tribute and a place of reflection and the celebration of life. GHA’s new Remembrance Centre has transformed the site into a place of global significance. The project is home to exhibition and interpretation spaces, retail space, a restaurant, a café and a learning centre.
