The concept for the Virginia Water Pavilion was to create a building that would be distinctive, linking to and continuing the history of Virginia Water and the Royal Landscape.

The proposed building was carefully designed to harmonise with its immediate landscape context and with the wider setting within Virginia Water.

It was proposed that the Pavilion have a strong thematic link to the Savill Building thus reinforcing the brand of the Royal Landscape in order that the two locations are clearly identified by visitors as part of an integrated experience.

The building was to build upon the ideas and timber engineering of the Savill Building, whilst developing this to a new level to create a structure that is highly innovative and original, and at the same time handcrafted from locally sourced timber.
