The Remembrance Centre at the National Memorial Arboretum has been named as Construction Project of the Year at the Insider WM Property Awards 2017. Cornerblock and the Remembrance Centre were also nominated for the 2017 Sustainability Award.
Cornerblock is a re-invention and re-wrapping of a tired 1980’s office building near Birmingham Snow Hill station. The transformation has reinvigorated a once neglected street corner in the heart of Birmingham’s business district.
The new Remembrance Centre has transformed the National Memorial Arboretum with a welcoming gateway into the 150-acre site. The project is home to exhibition and interpretation spaces, retail space, a restaurant, a café and a learning centre.
Ian Griffin, business editor of Midlands Business Insider, said: “The high standard and breadth of the shortlist reflects a confident region which is attracting investors, businesses and people from elsewhere in the UK and the world.”
