GHA has been appointed to design the new home for the English National Ballet (ENB) at the London City Island development in Tower Hamlets, a new neighbourhood by Eco World Ballymore. This move will place the company at the heart of the new city quarter on the eastern banks of the Thames (masterplanned by GHA) with excellent connections to London and internationally from City Airport.
Glenn Howells sees the ENB project as a critically important component of the London City Island project,
“We are thrilled that English National Ballet have selected us to work with them to design their new home, this project sits at the heart of a new mixed-use district and will be the focal point of creative activity that is planned throughout the whole development.”
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London commented,
“The planned relocation of English National Ballet and English National Ballet School to East London is an exciting development for one of the finest dance companies and schools in the world. Having bespoke, state-of-the-art facilities will strengthen this internationally renowned company’s ability to create new work and to rehearse, as well as allowing its talent development and creative learning plans to flourish.”
