Jessica Rowden featured in the Birmingham Architectural Association’s Women In Architecture exhibition
GHA are committed to actively promoting diversity and equality, which is reflected in our team, and the large number of female architects, technicians, interior and graphic designers we are proud to work with.
Earlier this week, one of our rising stars, Architect Jessica Rowden featured in a Birmingham Architectural Association event celebrating the city’s women in architecture.
Since joining Glenn Howells Architects in July 2018, Jess has been working on delivering Two Chamberlain Square, one of the first buildings that realises the GHA-designed Paradise masterplan which will reinstate Birmingham’s civic heart.
“What a great project to start my GHA career with” says Jess. “It often feels less about the building itself and more about its contribution to stitching two sides of the city centre together whilst providing a respectful setting to the historic buildings that surround Chamberlain Square. The best thing about that is everyone gets to enjoy it. The strength of the architecture is in its simplicity and how it complements the proportions and façade rhythms of its context.
“Personally, the project has been challenging yet fulfilling, due to the change in scale and typology from my previous experience and a good introduction to other professionals working in the region,” she says.
